Antonine Sisters Child Care Centre

In response to the needs of the Maronite Community in Melbourne, the Antonine Sisters Congregation in October of 1980 sent four Antonine Sisters. The Sisters established a childcare centre, which was funded by the Federal Government and the Community. The Centre was officially opened on November 16th, 1986 at 13 Barrow Street Coburg.

The Antonine Sisters Child Care Centre provides 50 places for children from the ages of 6 months to 5 years.

With the exceptional environment and high quality care, the centre provides a unique learning experience for young children. The bilingual program (Arabic - English) and diversity of activities permit each child to grow independently, acquiring strong self-discipline and esteem behaviour.

It serves not only as a Child Care Centre BUT as an integral pastoral and cultural component of the Lebanese Community in Melbourne.

The staff attempt to balance physical, social, emotional and cognitive experience in-group learning while recognising individual differences in development.

The centre has an objective role in the child's interest to simulate creativity and satisfy their desire to explore and discover. The staff strongly believes that the children at the centre, need to develop with the attributes of spiritually and moral responsibility, in order to foster a sense of values. Thus, the warm, joyful and flexible atmosphere enables the children to grow and learn to their full potential.
